Mr. Hutcherson and His fantastic cat menagerie

video still

HD video, 12 min, in post-production

The film is an experimental documentary that explores the liminal boundary between public and private by focusing on one man’s incredible collection of full scale big cats displayed on his front lawn in Muncie, Indiana. Through interview and archival visuals film zooms onto a yard art collection that blur boundaries between public and private, personal and common, spirit and inanimate objects, loss and abundance. This liminality creates a rich matrix for zooming onto changing vectors of memory, aesthetics, politics, and belonging in a place with a long history of being treated as a synecdoche for Middle America.
